KUCHING, Oct 29: Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinap proposes for the contractors in Tasik Biru area to be registered with the Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Council Bau Branch (DUBCB), to ensure they are not being left out from receiving projects.

According to a report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Henry proposed for the move following complaints from local contractors that they did not get the development projects in the area, most of which were given to contractors from outside of the area.

“Before this, the selected contractor was based on a draw. This time, only the contractor who has been a member of DUBCB will be given a project based on their performance record of the project implementation that are completed,” he explained.

Henry said this during a briefing session with the local contractors held in Baruk Singai in Kampung Sudoh, on Wednesday.

He noted, the selection of contractors was based on a lottery previously, but now the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) has the advantage of selecting the contractor to implement their project.

He added, every contractor in Tasik Biru area should be given an equal opportunity to implement the project, especially in their own area.  — DayakDaily.
