Tarat assemblyman: Speed up Jalan Padawan Phase 1 upgrading project

KUCHING, Oct 22: Assistant Minister of Modernisaton of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn calls for the works to Jalan Padawan Phase 1 upgrading project to be sped up, following his inspection of the project on Thursday (Oct 21).

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Sagah, who is also Tarat assemblyman said that the 14.225 kilometer project, from Kuching-Serian junction was delayed due to unavoidable circumstances.

“As such, I urged the contractor to speed up the implementation of the upgrading works and requested the Public Works Department (JKR) to continue monitoring the project to ensure that it can be completed according to the schedule,” he said.


Meanwhile, Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the project had been implemented since 2019, but had only reached 16.73 per cent, as compared to the schedule which is 46.57 per cent.

He said the project was delayed by 29.84 per cent and the progress of the works implemented was not encouraging.

“I hope that the contractor can make plans to complete this project immediately. The road is for the convenience of local residents which connect the villages, schools, clinics, including the government administrative offices,” he added. — DayakDaily.
