KUCHING, March 25: Tanjung Manis continues to be a key driver of development in the district and surrounding areas, with initiatives such as the Tanjung Manis Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) bringing tangible benefits to coastal communities including Belawai, Rajang, Jerijih, Semalau, and Sebayang.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment and Kuala Rajang Assemblyman, Datuk Len Talif Salleh highlighted that the transformation of Tanjung Manis from a previously forested area with no permanent settlement, has significantly reshaped the local socio-economic landscape.

According to him, most residents of Tanjung Manis today are among the early workforce who were directly involved in the area’s development before establishing their lives and families there.

“The implementation of the Tanjung Manis Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) has expanded the availability of residential lots in line with population growth, allowing more people to settle in the area,” he said when speaking at the Aidilfitri Celebration held at the Tanjung Manis IKS Hall on Tuesday.

He added that the construction of several new bridges in coastal areas has also created opportunities for more infrastructure projects to strengthen connectivity.

“All these development plans require close collaboration among all government agencies, particularly those responsible for project implementation,” he said. – DayakDaily
