Tan Kai chides Sarawak DAP for ‘hiding truth’ to discredit election opponent

KUCHING, Dec 8: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) has not revealed the whole truth when accusing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian for not attending the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) office at Kuala Lumpur which Dr Kelvin Yii did.

Political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai in pointing this out, referred to DAP’s statement as “misleading and inaccurate” as some facts were hidden from the public.

He explained that for the first reason, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Dr Sim was never invited to attend the meeting.

Secondly, with the dissolution of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN), he said Dr Sim no longer holds the position of State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor.

“The same applies to (previous) SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas as the chairmanship was returned to the Sarawak Secretary Department.

“Without anymore advisory post in SDMC, it is naturally that MOH will not send out any invitation to Dr Sim to attend their meetings,” he said in a statement today.

He also noted Dr Kelvin Yii’s attendance at the MOH meeting was due to his identity as Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament (MP).

He thus urged the Opposition not to use such tactics to discredit their opponent especially during this election period.

Dr Yii from DAP is one of the candidates who will be challenging Dr Sim’s incumbency in the Batu Kawah seat, other than Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) and Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi). — DayakDaily
