KUCHING, Dec 22: The B40 group in Sarawak can now purchase houses in the State government’s housing development areas for no more than RM120,000, said a political secretary to the chief minister Tan Kai.
He strongly supported such initiative as announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Joahri Tun Openg during the Kejiranan Mesra (KJM) 2020 Dinner held at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Banquet Hall here last Friday.
“The Sarawak government’s Spektra Permata housing projects, target the B40 group to own a house and eliminate squatters’ issue in the urban areas,” Tan said in a statement issued here today.
He reiterated that those eligible B40 group could also take up housing loans from Sarawak government’s financing facility – Mutiara Mortgage & Credit.
In his findings, Tan said for example the repayment details of a dual-generations loan with 40 years’ term period at an interest of only 1 per cent is translated to roughly RM300 per month.
“I believe with such facilities provided by Sarawak government, such approach can help B40 group to be able to own houses legitimately in Sarawak,” he added.
B40 refers to those who made up of the bottom group of 40 per cent of the population with a total household income of RM3,000 per month. — DayakDaily
