KUCHING, July 2: Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira hopes Selangau would have more infrastructure development now that its MP, Baru Bian, has been appointed Works Minister.
In his congratulatory statement, Gira pledged to work closely with Baru to develop Tamin in particular and Selangau in general, as the state government was Pakatan Harapan (PH) friendly.
“I wish to congratulate Baru Bian on his appointment as the Works Minister. With this appointment, I hope he can bring more development to Sarawak and focus on developing infrastructure in the state, especially in his Selangau constituency.
“Building new roads is critical for development as it will open land for development, such as oil palm plantations and cash crops, to improve the standard of living in the rural areas,” said Gira.
Baru, who is also Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman, was sworn in earlier today at Istana Negara. He is expected to report for duty tomorrow morning at the Works Ministry in Kuala Lumpur. — DayakDaily
