KUCHING, Nov 21: Taman Happy Valley will undergo a RM2.53 million drainage rehabilitation project aimed at improving the drainage network, boosting water-flow and reducing flash floods.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said the project officially kicked off today and marked a major step forward for the residents who have suffered years of repeated flooding.
“Happy Valley residents have suffered far too long from flash floods. Today’s kickoff is a major relief.
“After continuously pushing the matter with Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) Sarawak, visiting the site after every flood, and raising residents’ concerns, I am relieved to finally see this project moving,” he said in a statement.
The project is implemented by the DID Sarawak, with Armani Rewards Sdn Bhd appointed as the contractor.
The site possession date is set for Nov 24, with project completion scheduled for Aug 23, 2026.
At the kickoff meeting, he also reminded the contractor to follow the schedule and maintain good workmanship throughout the construction phase.
Yap assured residents they will receive regular updates, site notices and traffic alerts as the project moves forward. — DayakDaily
