KUCHING, June 6: Two out of nine new Covid-19 cases reported in Serian today are operators working in Taiyo Yuden (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd.
Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem who was informed of this by the Serian Division Health Office (PKB) said investigations revealed the operators had also visited Kampung Kakai and Wassion Avenue.
Of the remaining seven cases, five were detected through close contact tracing, whereby four are family members of Covid-19 cases and one was a close contact in a workplace.
The remaining two cases in Serian are a worker in a tile manufacturing company and a lorry attendant at a wholesale company.
All nine individuals were admitted into the Low-Risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre for Covid-19 (PKRC) in Serian.
The Muara Tabuan Cluster, which has been linked to Taiyo Yuden is currently one of the biggest active clusters in Kuching Division.
The outbreak started on May 29 when Taiyo Yuden reported a total of 128 positive cases among its workforce and shut down its operations for 14 days.
As of today, the Muara Tabuan Cluster registered a cumulative total of 257 positive cases out of a total of 600 individuals screened.
A total of 200 individuals tested negative and 143 more samples are awaiting laboratory test results. A total of 169 cases are active as of today. — DayakDaily
