KUCHING, Aug 4: The new Tabuan Jaya Health Clinic (Type 2) will be completed by June 2024 and be operational by the end of the same year.
This was announced by Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni after inspecting the project site today.
George Lam who is the special assistant to Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii and who represented the latter in attending the inspection, said the completion of Tabuan Jaya Health Clinic is expected to ease patient congestions at Tanah Puteh Health Clinic and Kota Sentosa Health Clinic.
“The people staying around Tabuan Jaya, BDC, Jalan Song and Stutong will not need to travel far to Tanah Puteh Health Clinic and Kota Sentosa Health Clinic,” said Lam in a press statement.
He said Tabuan Jaya Health Clinic was approved during 2018 when Pakatan Harapan took office in Putrajaya.
The objective of the project is to increase the number of government clinics available in Kuching as well as the entire Sarawak to better serve the local community.
Meanwhile, Lam added that Dr Yii has been serving as the Special advisor to the Health Minister.
“Currently, we saw that most of the qualified medical officers are being transferred into Sabah and Sarawak to address the shortage of medical officers here.
“There is still much to be done and the Federal government is trying its best to address the needs of doctors and health workers,” said Lam.
He said Kuching has also been chosen as one of the locations for Madani Medical Scheme where those under B40 and M40 who are currently in Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah database will receive free treatment in selected private clinics with a yearly quote of RM250, RM125 and RM75 for categories of Family, Senior Citizens and Single respectively. — DayakDaily
