“The suspect, who is also the victim’s brother-in-law, was apprehended at his residence after fleeing the scene. An inspection uncovered the weapons and ammunition, which have been seized for further investigation,” he said.

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect set fire to his brother-in-law’s car after a dispute with family members. A urine test also returned positive for amphetamines.

The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, Section 6(1) of the Corrosive, Explosive and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In a separate operation, police arrested a 57-year-old man along Jalan Punang Lawas at 3.10pm and seized two tube cuttings containing crystal methamphetamine weighing 2.20 grammes.

Later, a 31-year-old man was apprehended in front of a house on Jalan Punang at 3.30pm after testing positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. Both suspects have no prior criminal records, and the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
