“This time, (compared to) my last Sukma for Sarawak, I switched from my heptathlon event to focus on the high jump. I am so pleased with the result,” she told the DayakDaily when met at Sarawak Stadium today.

Sylvia who has a personal best jump of 1.65m revealed her jump of 1.54m at Sukma 2024 is her season best.

“I tried to jump 1.58m but failed. I congratulate the winner of the event and the first runner-up,” she added.

Sylvia, who is planning to take up a Bachelor’s Degree in Education said she would want to focus on her studies before deciding on what to do in her sports career.

The high jump event was won by Sabah’s Ku Yee Aleng (1.64m) while silver was claimed by Penang’s Melisa En Xuan Chong who also jumped 1.64m.

Ku Yee was judged the winner based on fewer failed jumps during the event. — DayakDaily
