KUCHING, Oct 29: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus has broadened its curriculum to include cutting-edge disciplines such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, sustainable energy, and digital innovation, ensuring students are fully equipped for real-world careers.
The expansion reflects the university’s commitment to providing future-focused learning that prepares graduates to thrive in a rapidly evolving job market.
Swinburne University of Technology vice-chancellor and president Professor Pascale Quester, said the university is advancing as a technology-driven, industry-focused institution, offering programmes and research aligned with current and emerging market needs.
“Swinburne is building a prototype of a fully tech-infused university where all our programmes are practical, industry-engaged and provide future-focused learning that equips students for meaningful careers,” she said during the university’s 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Tuesday (Oct 28).
She added that research at Swinburne Sarawak focuses on addressing real-world challenges by combining global expertise with local relevance.
Key areas include digital health, sustainability, and technological solutions for industries, supported through strategic partnerships with government and industry stakeholders.
“Our work creates tangible impact, addressing both the priorities of the region and pressing global issues,” she explained, emphasising the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and societal benefits.
Quester also highlighted that the RM50 million campus upgrade, completed last year, complements the university’s commitment to research and teaching excellence, providing students with state-of-the-art facilities to thrive in a dynamic learning environment.
She said the university’s approach ensures graduates not only meet the immediate demands of industry but are also equipped with the adaptability and skills required to lead in a rapidly evolving digital and sustainable economy. — DayakDaily
