KUCHING, Sept 14: Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah expressed joy and gratitude for having fulfilled their dream of reaching out to the people of Sarawak and Sabah during the 10-day ‘Kembara Kenali Boneo’ royal tour which ended in Telok Melano, Sematan, yesterday.
In a statement issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household Major General Dato’ Indera Zahari Mohd Ariffin today, he said Their Majesties also expressed their deep appreciation to the Government of Malaysia, the leadership of Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof and the State governments of Sarawak and Sabah for all their help in making the programme a success which started in Tawau, Sabah on Sept 3.
“The Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong also expressed their deepest gratitude to all the people of Sarawak and Sabah for the great welcome that has been given to them and their families throughout their journey along the Pan Borneo Highway.
“Both Their Majesties were deeply moved and touched by the spirit and love of the people expressed along the road where the journey took place regardless of day, night including during rainy days and hot weather,” he said.
Indeed, he continued, all the experiences of witnessing the manifestation of the love of the people, the spirit of unity, the diversity of cultures and ethnicities and the beauty of natural landscapes in both States are etched in the hearts of His Majesty and his family as sweet memories that will never be forgotten.
In addition, Zahari said, Their Majesties also expressed their joy because the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ programme also provided an opportunity for them both to further strengthen the relationship between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak and also to realise the spirit of “Raja dan Rakyat Berpisah Tiada”.
“Their Majesties both prayed that the people of Sarawak and Sabah would be protected by God and that the States of Sarawak and Sabah would remain prosperous and the people would also live in a spirit of unity and peace,” he added.
Meanwhile, Zahari said, in conjunction with Malaysia Day which will be celebrated on September 16, His Majesty called on all citizens to appreciate and embody the Rukun Negara principles which are the basis for national unity and the formation of the identity of the Malaysian Nation.
“His Majesty said this is because each of the five core principles of Rukun Negara is a formula for how people of multiple races, religions, cultures and languages can overcome all differences and diversity and live in harmony and peace,” he said. — DayakDaily
