Sweet gesture: MBKS distributes cendol jelly on Int’l Women’s Day

KUCHING, Mar 8: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) distributed cendol jelly to members of the public at Stutong Community Market and Kenyalang Park Market this morning in celebration of International Women’s Day.

According to a press release, MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng was accompanied by councillors Judy Kho and Albert Tay in distributing the refreshing treat to market vendors, shoppers, and visitors.

The activity was held as a simple gesture to appreciate the role and contributions of women in the community.

“International Women’s Day is a meaningful occasion to recognise and thank women for their important role in society.

“Women play a very important role in our lives and in our community. They contribute in many ways, as mothers, daughters, professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders.

“Their dedication and efforts help shape a caring and progressive society,” he said.

He added that the contributions of women can be seen everywhere, including in local markets where many women are actively involved as traders and small business operators.

“We cannot deny the important role women play in building families, strengthening communities and supporting the local economy,” he said.

The distribution of cendol jelly was warmly received by the public, bringing smiles to many visitors.
