Swap e-waste for cash at Dewan Masyarakat MBKS from April 22-23

KUCHING, April 14: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng today received a courtesy visit from Natural Resources Environmental Board (NREB) led by NREB controller Peggy Ronin Edin and the Department of Environment (DOE) led by its director Hamzah Mohamad at the MBKS office in Jalan Padungan, Kuching.

According to a press release, the courtesy visit was to brief the mayor on “Kempen Pengumpulan Buangan Elektrikal dan Elektronik (BEE)” which will be co-organised by NREB, DOE, and MBKS on April 22-23 (Friday and Saturday) at Dewan Masyarakat MBKS, Jalan Padungan from 8am until 5pm daily.

During the visit, Wee shared his thoughts on how MBKS, NREB, and DOE could collaborate to raise public awareness about the importance of environmental management and protection.


He highlighted that the agencies should work together to educate and improve the public’s understanding of environmental issues.

NREB and DOE also shared their opinions and suggestions as to how the council can assist and support both agencies, and Wee welcomed NREB and DOE’s ideas and suggestions on how the council can play its role in environmental issues.

Meanwhile, Wee invite the public to participate in the e-waste collection campaign which will be held at Dewan Masyarakat MBKS.

“Take advantage of the opportunity to exchange your e-waste for cash.

“Come and support this e-waste campaign by removing your unwanted e-waste from your home,” he said. — DayakDaily
