KUCHING, Nov 17: With a job placement success rate of about 60 per cent, the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) is urging graduates to take advantage of programmes such as the Graduates Enhancement Training, Work Readiness Programme (GETS WRP) to prepare themselves for today’s rapidly evolving job market.
According to Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) chief executive officer Joseph Lim said the programme has proven its ability to help graduates transition quickly into full-time employment, often immediately after completing their soft skills training.
“This year, many of our trainees have been offered full-time jobs right after completing their training with us. Our job placement success rate is around 60 per cent,” he said after the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between SCOPE and Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) today.
SCOPE is mandated to train 1,000 graduates each year, with 70 to 80 new trainees joining monthly.
“If you are actively looking for a job, I urge you to participate in this, to start your journey now.
“At SCOPE, we are fully committed to delivering impactful programmes that prepare our young graduates, not just for their first job, but for lifelong employability,” Lim said.
GETS-WRP, introduced by the Sarawak government, provides young graduates with structured training and exposure to various industries. The one-year programme is for degree holders and it consists of three months of soft skills development with SCOPE followed by nine months of industry placement with partner companies.
Throughout the entire 12-month period, trainees receive a RM1,500 monthly allowance from the State government together with insurance coverage. The industry-based structure also ensures participants gain hands-on experience and real workplace exposure. — DayakDaily
