KUCHING, July 16: Malaysian Muay Thai fighter Kabilan Jelevan Thiagarajan won by technical knockout (TKO) after leaving his opponent swaying in the first round at the ONE Championship held at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok last Friday night (July 14).
The 23-year-old Sarawakian sent Myanmar’s Sulaiman Looksuan kneeling to the floor, with the latter struggling to get stand up straight after the right-hand punch, leading the referee to call for an end to the match at minute 2:51s.
It was Kabilan’s first time participating in the event, which saw him bring home 350,000 baht (RM45,743) following his stunning debut.

According to a report by Bernama, Kabilan trained with Rentap Muay Thai Gym in Kuching, Sarawak, where he underwent intensive training of eight hours daily for nearly two months before the championship.
In a previous report by DayakDaily in 2019, Kabilan, who is of Indian-Kayan parentage, informed that before he dabbled in Muay Thai, he had learned Taekwondo and Silambam, a weapon-based martial art from India.
He also took the Muay Thai world by storm when he beat Jason Tang for the World Kick Boxing Championship 1-1 title (57kg category) at the World Muay Thai Championship in Hong Kong on Dec 3, 2018. — DayakDaily
