S’wakian athlete wins bronze at 6th Fazza Para Badminton Int’l Dubai 2025

KUCHING, May 12: Sarawak’s para badminton athlete Nurzammietul Syafiqqah Mohamad Zamberi made the nation proud by winning a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event at the prestigious 6th Fazza Para Badminton International Dubai 2025.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, Shafiqqah’s performance contributed to the national team’s overall tally of three gold, one silver, and four bronze medals, highlighting the strength and talent of Malaysia’s para badminton contingent.

“Shafiqqah’s achievement is a testament to Sarawak’s growing influence in the para sports arena, further reinforcing the State’s commitment to empowering athletes with disabilities through development programmes and training support.

“Their performance in Dubai reflects years of hard work and the spirit of Malaysian para-athletes. Sarawak will continue to empower, support and uplift these champions,” said Minister for Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah in a statement.

The event held at Shahab Al Ahl Club Dubai from May 9-11, organised by The Dubai Club for People of Determination, gathered 14 para badminton national players and other para badminton athletes from around the world in a celebration of para-athletic excellence and inclusivity.

Syafiqqah, along with fellow Sarawakian Ashley Irenaeus Jeck, made their international debut representing the Malaysian national team at the tournament. — DayakDaily
