KUCHING, Aug 21: Sarawakian archer Mohamad Edrudze Sulaiman bagged a gold medal in the RBm Adults Men Category at the European Traditional Open (ETO) in Germany yesterday (Aug 20).
Edrus, who is a member of Assyakirin Traditional and Modern Archery (ATMA) Club Bintulu and selected by Traditional Archery Association Malaysia (TAAM) to represent Malaysia at the international sports event, did not disappoint the nation as he recorded a total score of 968 points, leaving behind his competitors.
“Alhamdulillah. God has blessed us with our victory in Germany thanks to the prayers and good deeds of archery friends all over Malaysia.
“At first, it was too heavy for me to bear the country’s hopes. I felt helpless. All my hopes here only came from God’s assistance,” he wrote on his Facebook account today.
Malaysia also secured four other gold medals from Khairi Yusuf in the Seniors Men category, Mahamid Akivf (Juveniles), Umi Hafizah (Adults Women) and Dalia Asira (Juveniles), and one bronze from Ismail Jumat (Seniors Men).
