KUCHING, Nov 24: Four reports on hoax bomb threats to schools in Sarawak have been received from Nov 21 to 23, says Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata.

Mancha said that following that, security flushing has also been carried out thoroughly by police in all reported locations, and no threats were detected.

“Investigations found that the emails were fake, and there was no evidence of the existence of bombs at any school as alleged.

“The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998,” he told a press conference held at Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Sarawak) today.

According to Mancha, the threats were sent through three email accounts using the handles ‘Takstorrer’, ‘Tunzodev’, and ‘Tunzowashere’.

He said the email was sent to three schools in Kuching and one in Miri.

“After being notified of the email threat, the police, with cooperation from the school authorities, have taken action to evacuate the premises involved immediately,” he added.

He emphasised that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) views any form of bomb threat seriously and will take immediate action to investigate it without failure.

He also assured that the safety of students and teachers is guaranteed and that a full investigation into the matter will continue. — DayakDaily
