S’wak Media Group inks MoU with UCTS to jointly work on digital tech

KUCHING, Oct 29: Sarawak Media Group (SMG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) for collaboration in digital technology and content production to help boost the productivity in the state.

According to SMG chief executive officer Suhaimi Sulaiman in a press statement, the collaboration involved curriculum development, industry experts and advisory roles, customised training programs, student apprenticeship, joint research projects, including promoting UCTS as the university of choice in Sarawak.

“Following suit TVS’ fresh and inspiring tagline that aims to inform, educate and entertain, we emphasize on education as it is vital within the community to create and produce ideas that can help boost Sarawak’s productivity as a whole,” he said.


Meanwhile, UCTS vice-chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Khairuddin Abdul Hamid said that the collaboration will also help to provide exposure for the university’s students into other industries too.

“With this golden opportunity, we hope more doors will be open for our students, with the confidence that TV Sarawak (TVS) will catapult and sculpt them to spearhead different industries and bring the UCTS name across borders,” he said.

The statement also noted through this collaboration, the MoU will benefit both parties in the long run and further strengthen their objectives to assure each other’s cooperation shall be based upon mutual trust, including sustainable relationships between both parties.

“With these programs, it will provide beneficial information to the community in hopes that more youths in Sarawak are aware of various courses offered by UCTS,” the statement read.

The MoU signing was held at SMG’s office and signed by SMG chief executive officer Suhaimi Sulaiman, together with UCTS vice-chancellor Prof. Datuk  Dr. Khairuddin, and witnessed by Head of Content for (TVS) and UCTS Dean Dr. Alan Ting Huong Yong. –DayakDaily.
