In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, PKMS president Dr Wan Ali Tuanku Madhi said the hall, with a capacity of 1,200 people, is being built at a cost of more than RM20 million, including equipment and will serve as a centre for hosting a variety of community activities.

He said this following a courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today.

During the courtesy call, the delegation updated Abang Johari on the progress of the multipurpose hall.

“So far, construction works are ongoing and are expected to be completed by March 2026,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Wan Ali also invited the Premier to attend the Borneo Marhaban Festival and the Sarawak-wide Zikir Marhaban Competition, to be held on Nov 1 and 2, 2025 at Hikmah Exchange here.

The inaugural Borneo Marhaban Festival will feature participation from teams across Sarawak and abroad, including Sabah, Brunei Darussalam, and several regions in Kalimantan such as Sanggau, Kota Singkawang, Sambas, Mempawah, Sekadau and East Kalimantan.

He further added that the Zikir Marhaban Competition will be held for the second time, following its first edition in Sept 2023 at Raia Hotel.

In addition, he said PKMS also emphasised educational programmes and activities to address youth issues, which remain among the association’s main focuses.
