KUCHING, Oct 31: Sarawak longhouses are urged to register for the Malaysia Homestay Experience Programme under Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).

Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said MOTAC-affiliated agencies stand ready to provide essential support including necessary resources, grants, and expert advisory services with the aim to enhance competitiveness and explore broader markets for the participants.

“A crucial reminder to longhouses aspiring to join the programme: the cleanliness of the entire living environment is paramount. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness is not only a matter of hygiene but also directly impacts the health and safety of our visitors.

“Tourists will only feel comfortable and secure if our surroundings are pristine. Their positive experiences are key to our programme’s success and their recommendations to others.

“Let’s work together to ensure our longhouses shine as beacons of hospitality, drawing visitors in and leaving them with memorable experiences worth sharing,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Prior to the statement, Tiong and MOTAC officials visited a longhouse to promote the MOTAC Homestay Briefing Programme within the community.

During the visit, the delegation not only shared valuable information about the programme but also actively listened to the challenges faced by the residents. — DayakDaily
