KUCHING, Jan 30: The Sarawak government will begin implementing the Integrated Administrative Centre (IAC) for the Samarahan Division this year, in a move aimed at strengthening the delivery of state government services to the people in the division.

Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the IAC development is among several projects slated for implementation, together with new district offices and government quarters in Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Sebuyau, Simunjan and Gedong, according to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report.

He said earlier working visits with relevant agencies to several proposed sites had successfully identified suitable locations for the projects.

“Today, we are on the ground to see for ourselves whether the sites that have been identified are suitable or otherwise, and there are some suggestions and possible changes in terms of site locations.

“However, I believe that once these matters are reviewed and refined promptly, the implementation of these projects can begin this year,” he said.

He was speaking to Ukas after inspecting several proposed sites for the construction of district offices and government quarters in the Samarahan Division today in Gedong.

Elaborating further, Abu Bakar said the implementation period for all the projects is expected to take between 24 and 36 months.

“We may be able to complete them faster, or earlier, with cooperation from all parties, and we hope that once completed, these projects will provide a conducive working environment and comfortable living quarters for our Sarawak civil servants, particularly in rural areas,” he added.

During the series of visits, he inspected the proposed sites for the IAC and government quarters in Kota Samarahan and Asajaya, as well as the new Sebuyau District Office site.

He also carried out working visits to the sites of the new sub-district office and quarters in Sadong Jaya, followed by visits to the proposed district office and quarters sites in Sebuyau, Simunjan and Gedong.

Accompanying him were Samarahan Division resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, Ukas director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, Samarahan Division deputy resident Rais Ahmat, Gedong district officer Jamain Wahab, Simunjan district officer Sanuyah Mohamad, Integrated Regional Development Agency Samarahan (IRSDA) special administrative officer Anuar Da’an, and heads of the relevant departments. — DayakDaily
