S’wak Forestry Corp, Australia’s Northern Territories to collaborate in wildlife management, conservation

KUCHING, Aug 9: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) will collaborate with the Northern Territories of Australia in wildlife management and conservation efforts.

The collaboration was inked through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Wildlife Management International (WMI) during a signing ceremony held at Crocodylus Par in Darwin, Australia, on Aug 8, witnessed by Deputy Premier Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, together with delegates from Sarawak.

“This agreement represents a commitment to sustainable wildlife management, fostering a collaborative approach to addressing conservation challenges,” said Awang Tengah.

The MOA focuses on sharing expertise in crocodile management, a critical area for both regions, given their unique ecosystems.

The delegation was also briefed by experts from the Department of Environment, Parks, and Water Security and the Northern Territory Park and Wildlife Commission, including Professor Sam Banks and Professor Dr Grahame Webb, on advanced conservation techniques and research initiatives. — DayakDaily
