S’wak Electricity Master Plan 2025-2030 being reviewed to ensure full rural coverage, says minister

KUCHING, March 18: The Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak, in collaboration with Sarawak Energy, is reviewing the Sarawak Electricity Master Plan 2025-2030 to ensure comprehensive coverage of rural areas.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, its minister, Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, said that coverage in rural areas is currently at 98.6 per cent.

“Sarawak Energy, as the implementing agency, plays a key role in ensuring that projects and initiatives are carried out smoothly and on time.

“This will ensure that all efforts meet current needs and demands effectively,” he said during his speech at the Sarawak Energy Stakeholders Sungkei 2025 held at a hotel here on March 17.

At the same time, he also reiterated his ministry’s commitment to achieving full electrification in Sarawak with reliable energy supply across rural areas to strengthen the State’s economic development. — DayakDaily
