KUCHING, July 23: The Sarawak Digital Economy Awards 2025 (DEA2025) returns this year in conjunction with the 8th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS 2025), with submissions now open.
The Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) announced that DEA2025 will honour outstanding achievements in seven categories: Digital Technology Transformation, Research and Development and Commercialisation, Entrepreneurship and Startup, Digital Government, Digital Creative Content, Environmental Sustainability, and Digital Leadership.
“The highlight of DEA2025 will be the Premier’s Digital Economy Award. This special recognition will be given to the most outstanding deliverable outcomes among the winners of the seven award categories.
“The winners will be further evaluated based on their strategic deliverable strategy, leadership in digital transformation, development of the ecosystem, capacity and capability building, as well as the creation of value for their organisations,” according to a press release.
It highlighted that submissions for the awards are open from July 7 to Sept 15 and can be made online at https://dea2025.ireka.my, with more information available at https://digitaleconomyawards.com.
“IDECS, led by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, is a key initiative by the State government to drive innovation and socio-economic progress.
“Over time, IDECS has evolved into a globally recognised platform, demonstrating Sarawak’s commitment to building a robust digital economy in collaboration with international technology leaders.
“A notable result of IDECS has been the establishment of eight crucial initiatives guiding Sarawak towards a digital-oriented economy,” it added, noting that these efforts include the creation of key institutions such as the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS), SMA, and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC).
The 8th edition of IDECS, themed ‘AI and Green Evolution: Growth, Challenges, and Community Resilience’, serves as a dynamic platform where global leaders, innovators, and stakeholders come together to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in promoting green evolution. — DayakDaily
