Suspected smoke flare thrown into Permyjaya house compound

MIRI, Oct 9: Unknown individuals allegedly threw an object resembling a smoke flare into the compound of a house in Jalan Dato Permaisuri, Permyjaya, early Wednesday morning.

The incident, which occurred around 12.33am on Oct 9, was captured by the homeowner’s closed-circuit television (CCTV).

The footage reportedly shows a suspicious individual hurling the object into the compound, followed by the emergence of smoke.

Alarmed by the sight of smoke, the 58-year-old homeowner immediately contacted the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), fearing the situation might escalate into a fire.

Firefighters from the Lutong fire and rescue station responded swiftly and arrived at the scene shortly after.

However, by the time they arrived, the smoke had already dissipated.

The incident is currently under investigation, and a police report is expected to be filed soon.

No injuries were reported, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the investigation. — DayakDaily
