Suspected rabies victim reported in Miri

MIRI, April 21: A 60-year-old man suspected to have contracted rabies died on Saturday morning.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted earlier today said a police team rushed to a house in Tudan Desaras Phase 6 after responding to an alert at 11.05am.

“The man was reportedly unconscious inside the house” said Lim.

Lim added, a preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, identified as Stephen Kolok, had been bitten by a stray dog on April 12.

“He was supposed to go to Miri Hospital today (April 21),” he said.

The body has been taken to Miri Hospital morgue for a post mortem.

The case has been classified as sudden death. — DayakDaily
