KUCHING, Aug 21: A 48-year-old man suspected of being a human organ trafficker has been further remanded for another five days to assist the police to further investigate the case.
Subordinate Court deputy registrar Dora Undau allowed the police to further remand the male suspect until August 26.
He has been under remand for seven days since August 14. The remand order expired today.
The male suspect reported himself to the police at 1.45 pm on August 13.
The case is being investigated under Section 15 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
Police have mounted a hunt for the suspect following an article in The Sun, United Kingdom, which claimed that the suspect is a very experienced organ dealer and had a successful business buying and selling kidneys through his social media page.
Investigating officer ASP Nor Elyanis Mohd Yusoff applied for the remand order.-DayakDaily
