Suspected cable thief arrested at Sungai Moyan substation

KUCHING, Jan 3: A 41-year-old unemployed man was arrested for allegedly trespassing into and stealing electric cables from the Sungai Moyan substation in Batu Kawah today.

According to Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, a police report was made by Sacofa Sdn Bhd (Sacofa) personnel at 12.30am after finding out that their substation in Sungai Moyan had been trespassed.

ā€œBased on the information from the Padawan operation centre, police officers together with the complainant went to the substation at 1.50am and arrested the suspect.

ā€œAmong the items seized was a 30-metre feeder cable, connector feeder (three piece)s, connector jumper (three pieces), one hacksaw, and two motorcycles,ā€ he disclosed in a statement today.

A background check showed that the suspect had 10 previous criminal cases involving drugs, snatching, auto theft, causing injury, and other non-index offences.

The loss is estimated at about RM1,500. The suspect, together with the confiscated items, were brought to the Batu Kawah police station for further investigation. ā€” DayakDaily
