SUPP vice-president: Election results show Chinese community support shifting to GPS

MIRI, Dec 19: The massive mandate received by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is a reflection that the people of Sarawak are putting their faith towards the party to bring the State to greater heights, said Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.

“For Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), the outcome of yesterday’s election has indicated a good sign from the Chinese community, as we are now getting back the support,” he pointed out.

Lee, who is also SUPP vice-president, said the landslide victory in yesterday’s election shows the support towards the party by the Chinese community.

“Yesterday’s election results sent a clear message; that the Chinese community support is shifting to GPS,” he said today after arriving from Kuching.

In Sarawak’s 12th election which was held yesterday, Lee retained the N75 Senadin seat for the sixth time since 1996 with a majority of 7,591 votes.

Lee received a total of 10, 535 votes, defeating Democratic Action Party’s (DAP) Marcus Hugo who garnered 2,944, Parti Sarawak Bersatu’s (PSB) Lee Tze Ha with 1,896 votes, Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Eric Ngieng Sheng with 1,023 votes, and Bobby William of the Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) with 511 votes. ― DayakDaily
