KUCHING, July 1:  Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) has been told to mind its own business and concentrate on returning the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) monies to the rightful authorities instead of playing up speculation about the PM’s successor.

In a statement today, state Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information chief Desmond Kho said SUPP Stakan branch chairman Sim Kiang Chiok’s recent statement questioning whether Democratic Action Party (DAP) still supports Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take over as the country’s next prime minister is none of Sim’s nor SUPP’s concern.

Kho said the matter of the PM’s successor is a strictly a matter for the incumbent, who has the confidence of the majority of Parliamentarians in the country.

“We are confident that the right choice and timing of the succession will be made in the best interest of the nation,” he said.

Kho also opined Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has through lawmaker Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri expressed that their preferred choice for PM as former PM Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Sim’s poor attempt at fishing in what he perceives to be troubled waters, does not serve anyone.

This question which is based on unwarranted speculation is a mischievous and blatant political attempt to detract from the current affairs of SUPP, which the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) recent civil forfeiture lawsuit to recover RM270 million related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) state fund, has named SUPP as one of the respondents.

SUPP is encouraged to mind their own business and concentrate on returning the 1MDB monies to the rightful authorities,” he said. — DayakDaily
