MIRI, Mar 27: Miri Hospital is running out of face shields for its healthcare workers.

According to Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) secretary general Datuk Sebastian Ting, after being informed on the low supply of face shields by Miri hospital’s director Dr Jack Wong, SUPP Piasau started production for 1,000 DIY face shields.

“These face shields are to be delivered to Miri hospital, so the medical healthcare teams could used it when testing and treating Covid-19 patients,” stated Ting.

He explained that face shields was one of the crucial medical equipment used by medical staff over face masks while treating patients to protect against flying respiratory droplets that could transmit coronavirus through coughing and sneezing.

Ting also welcomed individuals or private companies who wanted to contribute to helping them to produce the face shields for Miri Hospital healthcare staff.

“Let us stand united together and do our bit to better equip our frontliners handling Covid-19,” he said.
