KUCHING, Oct 10: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) believes that the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) is the opportune time for Sarawak to send a strong team of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) representatives to Parliament to fight for Sarawak’s rights.
Its president, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, believed that Sarawak needs a strong and stable Federal government, not one with three prime ministers in five years, given the uncertainties in the world, including hostility and economic recession.
Dr Sim, who is also Deputy Premier, said Sarawakians also had had enough of the daily politics of division and hatred prevailing in Peninsular Malaysia.
“Sarawakians finally have a chance, after 59 years, to fight for what is ours under MA63 (the Malaysia Agreement 1963), our health (autonomy), our education autonomy, one-third of MP seats for Sabah and Sarawak, and a bigger share of our rightful financial allocations.
“(GE15 is) Sarawakians’ chance of coming together, in unity, to send a strong team of GPS MP team to next Parliament,” said Dr Sim in a press statement in response to parliamentary dissolution announced by Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Ismail Sabri this afternoon. — DayakDaily
