KUCHING, June 14: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) today challenges state Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chong Chieng Jen to answer five questions related to the Petronas oil claim.

In a statement today, SUPP said Chong, who is also Stampin MP and Kota Sentosa assemblyman, was most qualified to answer the questions, which would, among others, reveal his stance on the national oil giant’s suit.

The five questions are as follows:

Q1. When you speak for Sarawak in the PH government, do you put Sarawak interest first?
Q2. Do you support the suit by Petronas?
Q3. Do you agree with the federal government, which is now applying to join the suit in support of Petronas against Sarawak?
Q4. Were you briefed beforehand by the PH federal government of this suit, in particular during your meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a few days before Petronas sued Sarawak?
Q5. Does your party’s top leadership support this suit, in particular the two DAP ministers in the cabinet?

SUPP claimed it was concerned about the rights of Sarawak and its sovereignty, following the latest turn of events in the Petronas vs Sarawak court case.

It pointed out that the federal attorney-general had applied to the Federal Court to have the case adjourned on the grounds that the federal government wanted to intervene in the suit.

“There is no doubt that the federal government will stand on the side of Petronas to fight against Sarawak.

“This is in total breach of the PH election manifesto, which promised to return the rights to Sarawak as provided for in the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” it said. — DayakDaily
