KUCHING, Dec 16: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kota Sentosa branch calls on Sarawakians to speak with one united voice to fight for a better tomorrow for Sarawak.

In a statement, its branch chief Wilfred Yap said it is crucial for Sarawakians to support the vision and policies of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) which is under Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“I hope that Sarawakians understand that it is very crucial and important for us to support the far-sighted vision and policies of GPS Sarawak Government under the able leadership of our Chief Minister YAB Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari Bin Tun Abang Haji Openg.

“As Sarawakians, we must stand up for our rights, speak with one united Sarawak voice under a common objective for a better tomorrow for Sarawak. We must never be misled by the unproductive rhetoric of opposition political parties, especially those from Malaya which are made solely for the purpose to fish for support,” said Yap.

As SUPP Public Complaints Bureau chief, Yap said during his regular “turun padang” to 7th Mile area, he is frequently approached by residents for his assistance to request the local council to carry out improvement and repair works to damaged infrastructure facilities like drains and roads.

“Following such requests for assistance received, the problems are always communicated to the relevant authority for the improvement and repair works to settle such problem,” said Yap.

He said recently, he went for inspection and monitoring of repainting works on iron railings at Kota Sentosa Bazaar to ensure that the progress repainting works are carried out properly and on schedule by the workers of Padawan Municipal Council.

“The repainting works were carried out after requests were made by the business community as the paint on the iron railings has worn away and the repainting works is essential to avoid rusting and decay caused by exposure to air and water,” said Yap.

He said he will continue to follow up and monitor the improvement and repainting works at Kota Sentosa Bazaar until the works are completed to the satisfaction of all affected parties and shall also continue to serve as the eyes and ears of the community living there to ensure that the infrastructure facilities are in good condition and maintained properly.

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems or who come across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with them, said Yap.

Anyone requiring assistance can always call SUPP Public Complaint’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or go direct to SUPP Head Office to request assistance. -DayakDaily
