KUCHING, July 29: The ‘Madani Economy: Empowering the People’ initiatives announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lacks details, opined Dato Sim Kiang Chiok.
Sim, who is Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman, said the initiatives are set up by seven indicators namely being in the top 30 of world’s largest economies; top 12 in Global Competitiveness Index; labour income constitutes 45 per cent of total income; 60 per cent women participation in the labour force; top 25 in Human Development Index; top 25 in Corruption Perception Index; and fiscal sustainability with a fiscal deficit of three per cent or lower.
“This are good targets to achieve that will set Malaysia on the top countries to invest, work and stay with good future for our children.
“However, how this unity government achieves these targets lack details in this announcement by our Prime Minister,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Sim, who is also Sarawak Housing And Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Kuching chairman welcomed the Federal government’s improved loan schemes under Syarikat Jaminan Kredit Perumahan Bhd (SJKP).
He said by providing financing guarantees up to 120 per cent of house prices up to RM300,000 with the government guarantee of up to RM5 billion, it will benefit and assist first time home buyers with all the costs involved with purchasing a house.
“The RM100 e-wallet for B40 and M40 group, including the one-off incentives for civil servants and government retirees will also be much appreciated especially during these rising cost of living period,” he added. — DayakDaily
