KUCHING, Sept 10: The Sarawak United People’s Party Public Complaint Bureau (SUPP PCB) is appealing to the federal and state governments to address the poor condition of the drainage in Stampin Resettlement Scheme.

SUPP PCB chairman Wilfred Yap in a statement today, said during the “turun padang” activity in Stampin areas with SUPP members, the residents at Lorong 35 of the Stampin Resettlement Scheme complained about the poor condition of the drainage that has blocked and impeded the flow of water, leading to flash floods every time it rains heavily.

“As such, the residents had requested for upgrading works from earth to concrete drains to prevent flash flooding and waterlogged roads.

“On behalf of all the residents of Stampin Resettlement Scheme, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau appeal to the Federal PN and State GPS Government to allocate development funds for upgrading works of all the earth drains to concrete drains to resolve the problems of the dilapidated drainage situation which is long outstanding,” he said.

On another note, Wilfred also praised Telekom Malaysia for their quick response in addressing the badly slanted telephone poles that caused worries for the local residents.

According to Yap, the residents in Lorong 35, Stampin, are worried that the telephone poles would topple in the event of strong winds.

“Upon receiving the complaint, SUPP PCB immediately contacted Telekom Malaysia Berhad, and all the problematic slanting telephone poles have been straightened.

“SUPP PCB would like to thank Telekom Malaysia Berhad for their professionalism and speedy action in resolving the issue,” he added.
