KUCHIG, Jan 17: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has lodged a police report urging authorities to investigate a recent statement by the Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (DAPSY) under Section 182 of the Penal Code, alleging that it constitutes a malicious political attack and shows disrespect for the judiciary.
Political Secretary in the Premier’s Department, Kua Jack Seng, highlighted that recently DAPSY lodged a police report alleging that the party were given a suspected 1MDB fund by the former prime minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Kua, who is also the SUPP Engkilili branch chief, asserted that the allegation had already been conclusively addressed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court in 2020. He noted that the court dismissed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) civil forfeiture application involving RM188,138.26 allegedly linked to SUPP due to insufficient evidence.
He added that although MACC had considered appealing the decision, it ultimately chose not to do so, rendering the judgment final.
By lodging the police report, Kua pointed out that DAPSY has not acknowledged this final judgement by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
“Therefore, SUPP filed a report today on these allegations, urging the police to investigate DAPSY under the Penal Code for making these false, misleading, and malicious statements for political purposes,” he told reporters when met at the Satok Police Station.
He reiterated that, despite the court’s final decision, DAPSY still wanted to resurface the same allegations publicly and lodge a police report challenging the authority of the court and undermining the finality of judicial rulings and public trust in the legal system.
He described DAPSY’s moves as politically motivated rather than a genuine pursuit of justice, accusing the group of exploiting legal processes for partisan attacks.
“The matter has already received a final judicial determination, yet DAPSY deliberately reignited the issue, violating the principle of res judicata,” he said.
Accompanying him to lodge the police report were Kho Teck Wan, the SUPP Women’s chief and Political Secretary to the Premier Department, Angellie Stephen Raja, the political secretary, and SUPP Youth members Russell Ling and John Wong. – DayakDaily
