KUCHING, Nov 29: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching is determined to wrest back the Padungan seat in the upcoming Sarawak Election.

SUPP Kuching in a statement today said winning back the support of the electorate should be the top priority at this point in time.

As such, the leaders of the branch called on voters to help bring real change to the constituency together by supporting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition.

“Although SUPP failed to secure Padungan State constituency in the last three consecutive State elections, SUPP Kuching Branch had continued to tirelessly serve the constituents.

“It is observed that with the Covid-19 pandemic having adversely impacted the country’s economy and also the livelihood of many people, the health issues and the revival of the economy post-pandemic are now of utmost importance to everyone.

“Hence, there is a necessity to do away with the political sweet-talkers full of empty promises, and choose the aspirants who can walk the talk and bring real change,” it said.

SUPP Kuching branch added the party’s younger generation has a vital role to play in upholding the founding spirit of the party, maintaining party unity, and working hard for the purpose of serving the people in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, SUPP lost the Padungan seat in the last three State Elections.

In 2006, the party lost to then Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate Dominique Ng and in 2011 and 2016, SUPP lost to then Democratic Action Party (DAP) candidate Wong King Wei. — DayakDaily
