KUCHING, May 13: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch published its first newsletter titled ‘The Voices of Kuching’ yesterday.

The branch’s Publicity and Information Secretary Peter Pui, in a statement today, said the newsletter, which is published in Chinese and English, contains information and political commentary on the branch’s activities.

He also informed that the first page consisted of a speech by the branch’s chairman Dato Lily Yong and political comments representing the position of the branch.

“The article points out that in the face of the upcoming parliamentary election, the joint committee composed of the three sub-branches in Kuching must first negotiate and send out potential candidates to jointly support to win the old congressional constituency.

“In addition, the newsletter also reported the list of executive committee members elected by the branch, Youth and Women’s groups, as well as pictures of the branch’s activities of distributing food and supplies to the people during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The newsletter also published a segment of senior party leader Huang Jilin, who expressed his insights on ‘carrying forward the traditional culture of the SUPP’,” he explained.

Pui further hoped that the party members and the general public would use the newsletter to educate themselves politically and socially.

“Whether it is political commentary or criticism from the public, contributions are welcomed to increase the newsletter’s content,” he added.

Meanwhile, SUPP Kuching Branch Publicity and Information vice secretary Jong Zhen Xiang invited members of the branch and sub-branches and Padungan security and development committee (JKKK) to attend a gathering titled ‘SUPP Members Reconnection and Appreciation Gathering 2.0’ at Tai Pan Cafe, Padungan at 5.30pm tomorrow (May 14). — DayakDaily
