Supermarket in Bintulu fined, ordered to clean premises after rat droppings found

BINTULU, Aug 22: A supermarket here has been slapped with a compound notice under Section 30(1) of the Public Health Protection Ordinance (PPHO) after health inspectors discovered rat droppings inside the premises on Thursday (Aug 21).

Apart from the fine, the operator was also issued a Cleaning Work Order Notice, requiring immediate action to ensure the premises remains clean, safe, and free from contamination risks.

In a statement shared on its social media, the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) stressed that it would not compromise on public hygiene standards, adding that routine inspections will continue to be carried out from time to time.

BDA also reminded all business operators to place cleanliness as a top priority in order to safeguard food safety, protect consumer health, and uphold the well-being of the Bintulu community. — DayakDaily
