KUCHING, Oct 13: Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients will receive RM100 per month for a period of 12 months under the newly improved Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) initiative.
Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Federal government, which introduced the SARA initiative earlier this year, has credited financial aid into the MyKad of 200,000 STR recipients worth RM100 per month for a period of six months.
“Through SARA, recipients only need to go to retail stores to provide basic needs just by using MyKad.
“Taking into account the very good feedback (for SARA), the government has decided to extend SARA benefits to 700,000 STR recipients who will receive RM100 per month for a period of 12 months,” he said when tabling Budget 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat today.
The STR recipients referred to those who are in the hardcore poor category based on e-Kasih data.
