Sulaiman Vs Ragad: Defence applies to strike out suit, court hearing set on Oct 16

KUCHING, Sept 4: The Kuching High Court has set Oct 16 to hear the case of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s sons against his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib and RHB Investment Bank over the injunction placed over the disposal of CMS shares.

During the further mention of the case today, all parties agreed that the injunction to dispose of the shares of CMS continues to hold effect until the final disposal of the suit or under further order by the High Court.

Taib’s sons, Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib and Dato Sri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib, have filed a suit against Ragad, seeking a court injunction to halt the transfer of shares to Ragad.

In defending Ragad, her lead counsel, Shankar Ram Asnani, at the same time, filed an application to strike out the suit.

Judge Alexander Siew fixed Sept 18 for final admissions and Oct 16 for the hearing.

In this high-profile civil case, Sulaiman and Bekir are represented by Alvin Chong, while Shankar, Alvin Yong, Azlina Dahlan, and Izan Nadiawati Mohd Tabib defend Ragad.
