KUCHING, June 19: The High Court of Kuching has set Aug 15 (Tuesday) for case management for the case between Sarawak Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s family members.
Taib’s son Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib, who was former Deputy Tourism Minister and Kota Samarahan MP, has filed a suit against his stepmother, Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib (first defendant) and RHB Investment Bank (second defendant).
At the court proceeding for mention today, counsel to the plaintiff Alvin Chong briefly stated that according to his understanding, “… the first and second defendants undertake not to deal with and/or sell the impugned shared as stated in the statement of claim until the next hearing date”.
Prior to today’s mention, the court document shows that Sulaiman had filed an ex parte injunction against Ragad, and it was declined.
The High Court converted the application to an inter partes application and fixed today as the date for the case mention, where it was decided that case management will be fixed on Aug 15.
The details of the case are kept under wraps as counsels from all sides are keeping mum.
