KUCHING, June 30: Sarawak is set to host about 13,000 athletes, including technical crew and secretariats, for the coming Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024.

According to Deputy State Secretary and Chief Executive Officer for the games Datu Hii Chang Kee, it surpassed the South East Asian (SEA) Games in terms of numbers and contingents.

“For Sukma 2024, we have 15 contingents, including from Brunei,” he said during the Sarawak Public Communication Unit’s (Ukas) Bual Bicara Juh Randau programme yesterday (June 29).

He said with such big numbers and held in nine divisions and 37 venues, there are challenges in terms of transportation, sports villages, and many others.

Despite the challenges, he said that he is satisfied with the overall progress of preparation.

“There are a few that we are still rushing (to complete), and hopefully, we will overcome it,” he added. — DayakDaily
