KUCHING, Sept 3: The Belinggai Ulu Niah Cluster in Subis, which was declared four days ago, added 127 more Covid-19 positive cases overnight to push the cluster total to 167 today.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the Belinggai Ulu Niah Cluster was among 17 active clusters in the State that saw an increase in daily infections to contribute a total of 230 cases to the state’s caseload today.
The cluster was identified on Aug 30 after 33 people from two longhouses tested positive for Covid-19.
As of today, a total of 200 individuals have been screened, whereby 14 tested negative while 19 are still awaiting lab test results.
Another notable active cluster that registered an increase in cases is the wedding Bungey 2 Cluster in Betong which has swelled to 764 after nine more cases were added today.
As of today, a total of 850 individuals have been screened, whereby 44 tested negative and 42 are still waiting for lab test results.
The cluster, which stemmed from a wedding ceremony that took place on July 30 and 31 and involved residents of a village in Kampung Hilir Bungey in Debak, currently has 370 active cases.
The remaining 15 clusters that picked up more cases are Kampung Bunga Cluster in Serian which added 28 more cases; Kampung Panggil Cluster in Sri Aman (14 cases); new Jalan Masuri Cluster in Sibu (12 cases); Lubuk Bukut Cluster in Mukah (7 cases); Jero Geasah Cluster in Subis and new Nanga Tapih Cluster in Betong (5 cases each); KM20 Jalan Betong Cluster in Betong, Kampung Simpok Cluster in Serian and new Sawit Gelasah Cluster in Subis (4 cases each); Ladang Hijau 01 Cluster in Beluru and Menuang Baru Cluster in Limbang (3 cases each), Bandar Baru Mukah Cluster in Mukah (2 cases); while Tembok Sri Aman 2 Cluster in Sri Aman, Mas Sawai Cluster in Subis and Duras Cluster in Serian has one case each. — DayakDaily
