SIBU, March 15: Road users in the Pelawan constituency can expect improved visibility and safety at night as additional street lights are set to be upgraded, thanks to a pledge by Pelawan assemblyman Datuk Michael Tiang to utilise his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) Fund for this purpose.

Tiang, who also serves as the Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, announced plans to upgrade street lighting on several roads within the constituency.

“I am committed to utilizsng the Rural Transformation and Development Fund to extend this initiative to Jalan Teng Chin Hua, Jalan Ling Kai Cheng, Jalan Wong Soon Kai, and Jalan Wawasan,” Tiang stated.

A total of 234 street lights will be upgraded, with 80 allocated for Jalan Teng Chin Hua, 68 for Jalan Ling Kai Cheng, 40 for Jalan Wong Soon Kai, and 46 for Jalan Wawasan.

Tiang emphasised that the upgraded street lights would not only increase in number but also shine brighter, effectively illuminating the streets and eliminating darkness at night.

“This initiative aims to ensure that the Pelawan constituency is well-lit at night, providing a safer and brighter environment for everyone,” he emphasized.

Recently, Tiang witnessed the installation of street lights on Jalan Penyau to enhance public safety.

“With the installation of streetlights, residents no longer need to worry about visibility or fear accidents while using the road. This improvement enhances the quality of life for residents and contributes to a safer community,” he added. — DayakDaily
