STPM leavers can apply for scholarship, study loan from Yayasan Sarawak

KUCHING, Oct 4: STPM (Malaysian Higher School Certificate) leavers in Sarawak are urged to apply for Yayasan Sarawak’s higher education scholarship and study loan if they wish to further their studies in local government universities.

Priority will be given to those applying for local universities such as Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak (Swinburne Sarawak), Curtin University Sarawak Campus, University Technology of Sarawak (UTS).

Political Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Tan Kai, said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government has set up the Yayasan Sarawak to provide the scholarship and study loan for Sarawakian students irrespective of background, race or religion.


“The application’s success rate is as high as 95 per cent, with zero-interest in study loan and repayment starts one year after graduation,” he said in a statement today.

Tan further said that Yayasan Sarawak also provides a very high rebate percentage of 25 per cent, 50 per cent and 75 per cent on a condition that the applicant scores an outstanding result during their study.

“Yayasan Sarawak also provides a one-off allowance for students coming from low-income family during their university enrolment,” he added.
